The Arna Bontemps African American Museum & Cultural Arts Center

The Arna Bontemps African American Museum and Cultural Arts Center brings you Bontemps After Hours, Seersucker Summer Nights, the Adult & Junior Writers Guild, the Renaissance School of Music, and many more programs that keep the arts, culture, music and history of Central Louisiana going strong.  Now, we are planning renovations to our historic building (Bontemps House) and acquire additional space to house our Cultural Arts Center located in the Cultural Arts District of Downtown Alexandria.  The Museum will receive an overhaul of it's exhibition space, updated kitchen and restroom facilities, an improved Garden area and improved modifications of the carriage house.  The new building (CAC) will feature multiple classrooms designed for arts and music education, a performance hall for local and touring acts, an archival facility, additional gallery and studio space, and several offices.  The Cultural Arts Center will be a space dedicated to preserving and promoting our rich and culturally-diverse history in Central Louisiana.
