The Arna Bontemps African American Museum is dedicated to providing opportunities to broaden the understanding of and interaction with the arts and creative thinking. We offer tours, programs and art-making activities that engage our diverse communities with the rich collections and temporary exhibitions on view at ABAAM.

Programs for students, educators, and the public are thoughtfully designed to awaken the imaginations of museum visitors and foster inquisitiveness in the creative process and artistic expression.

Each year, students are selected from the program to perform as a member of the Bontempian Big Band.  This year's band played at our 18th annual Jazz on the River Festival - Saturday, April 21 and Sunday, April 22.  The Bontempian Big Band is led by our musician-in-residence, Bill Christophe.
