ART ADVOCATE ASSOCIATION

Support the artistic accomplishments of African Americans while providing resources to increase the ABAAM collection of African American art.  The Art Advocate Association (Three-A) supports the museum’s collection of African American art and educates the community at large about the diverse body of artwork created by African Americans.  Three-A members are treated to private tours, receptions, and lectures by renowned artists, curators, and historians.  Membership dues and other fundraising proceeds go toward the purchase of African or African American art for the ABAAM collections.  Member: $500.

​For those who would like to have a more in-depth relationship with the ABAAM, there are many Patron Groups that allow community members to affect the way the museum's collections are shaped, to travel with curators and others who share your interests, and to attend exclusive events and exhibition previews.  There is a patron group for every artistic interest.  Each requires that you become an ABAAM member in order to join.  For more information, or to join, please send an email to info@arnabontempsmuseum.org or 318.473.4692

FILM GUILD

ART + WINE

​Join Art + Wine and view some of Alexandria’s private African art collections while enjoying fine wines selected to match the artworks on view.  Members of this group enjoy exclusive access to private collections in Alexandria, gather to hear wine experts talk about trends in the wine business, and attend private members-only events.  Art + Wine supports the building of the African art collection at the ABAAM.  Couple $250, Individual $150 (To obtain Connoisseur membership which includes (1) Bontemps reserve bottle selected annually members must pay an additional $ 50)

The Film Guild is the membership group for movie lovers.  Receive at least 4 admission passes to the museum’s year-round film screenings (excluding some screenings); passes to sneak previews of new independent film releases; invitations to social events and programs with visiting filmmakers and members of the Louisiana film community; receive a listing of all ABAAM Films and the printed film calendar. Couple $150, Individual $85.

The Photo Guild is for patrons interested in photography as a fine art.  This group has a dual purpose: to increase members’ knowledge about the collecting, connoisseurship, and history of photography; and to support the museum’s mission and growing permanent collection of contemporary photography.  The Photo Guild sponsors at least six programs a year including special tours of exhibitions, talks by photographers and collectors, and previews of upcoming auctions.  These programs are often followed by dinner and lively discussion.  At the final meeting each year, Photo Forum members use their dues to acquire contemporary photographs for the ABAAM permanent collection. Annual dues: $250.

The Writers Guild is for patrons interested in African American literature.  This group has a dual purpose: to increase members’ knowledge about the collecting, connoisseurship, and history of African American literature; and to support the museum’s mission and growing permanent collection of African American literature.  The Writers Guild sponsors at least six programs a year including several lectures and workshops with guest writers.  These programs are often followed by dinner and lively discussion.  At the final meeting each year, the Writers Guild members use their dues to acquire African American books and manuscripts for the ABAAM permanent collection and host the Junior Writer's Guild 4-week after school workshop twice a year assisting inner-city youth in improving their reading, writing and comprehension skills. Annual dues: $250
